How To Do Internet Speed Tests

Using the eero app for speed tests

The eero app automatically runs a speed test every two days. The results of the latest test can be found in the following ways:

  • Open the eero App

  • Tap the Activity Icon at the bottom of the page

  • Tap “Fastest Download”

  • Tap Run Speed Test

  • Review results

Note: The results shown on the eero App test reflect the connection between your Gateway eero (Primary) and a speed test server, using your ISP's connection. This test does not necessarily reflect the WiFi speeds of your network or devices.

Using a web browser on your device to test your speed

We recommend starting with a wired test for the most accurate results.

Option 1: Using a Wired Connection (Most Reliable)

  1. Locate an Ethernet cable. These typically look like phone cables but wider and with a clip latch.

  2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to an available Ethernet port on your router. Ethernet ports are usually rectangular-shaped with a small light next to them.

  3. Connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet port on your computer. Most laptops and some desktops have built-in Ethernet ports.

  4. Once connected, ensure Wi-Fi is disabled on your computer. This eliminates interference from the wireless signal. Here's how to disable Wi-Fi on most devices:

    • Windows 10/11: Click the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the taskbar). Click on your Wi-Fi network and select "Disconnect".

    • MacOS: Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar (top right corner of the screen). Select "Turn Wi-Fi Off".

    • Android: Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel. Tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon to open settings. Toggle Wi-Fi "Off".

    • iPhone/iPad: Open the Settings app. Tap "Wi-Fi" and toggle the switch next to your network to "Off".

  5. Open a web browser on your computer (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Safari, or etc.).

  6. Navigate to www.Fast.com by Netflix: The test will take about a minute to complete.

  7. Once finished, note down the download and upload speeds. These are displayed in Megabits per second (Mbps).
