How To Powercycle Your Gateway
This includes instructions on how to powercycle (reboot) your Eero 6 Wi-Fi gateway.
To help avoid any confusion, a “gateway,” is similar to a modem. It is also, in this case, the same thing as a Wi-Fi router.
If you have multiple Wi-Fi routers, there is only one that is the gateway, and all others are acting as extenders. The gateway and the extenders will all be eero 6 Wi-Fi routers. So, to identify the gateway, it will be the eero 6 plugged into the POE injector and closest to the service antenna mounted outside your home. It is the Wi-Fi router that acts as the “gateway” to the outside world.
If you’re having internet connectivity problems, the first thing to see is if all of your devices have internet connectivity issues or only one. If it is only one device, the problem is likely with that device, and not with your internet or Wi-Fi. If this issue persists across all devices, then the first troubleshooting task to perform would be to powercycle your gateway.
The center port on the back of your Eero 6 gateway is the power supply port. Unplug the power supply cable. Wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Wait a couple minutes for devices to register a new connection. You have completed the process.
